Hello! My name is Alan Bland. I am a digital artist, musician, computer scientist and technology geek.

Composed Bits is a blog about my creative pursuits in electronic music, digital art, photography, technology and code.

I create my visual art using digital cameras, a scanner, 3D modeling software, fractal software, a drawing tablet with digital painting software, occasional licensed content from other artists, and my sometimes crazy imagination. I blend it all together using Photoshop and other image manipulation programs to bring my imaginary scenes to life.

I conduct my electronic music experiments using various software programs, primarily Ableton Live but sometimes other programs including software toys of my own creation. I generate sounds from a collection of digital soft-synths I have accumulated over the years, plus a rack of hardware synthesizers dating from the 1980’s and 1990’s. Old school can be just as fun as new school!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy seeing and hearing some of my creations!
